Online constellations: how a session works

A constellation is a method of working with a system: a family, a team, a business or a personal situation. The elements of the system are represented by figures, and their positions and relationships are looked at from the outside. A facilitator leads the process.

In person, the elements of the system are represented by people in a group or by figures on a practitioner's table. Online, the same principle moves to a three-dimensional table in the browser. The client, the facilitator and the participants can be in different cities and countries and see the same board in real time.

What you need to take part

Just a browser and a link. Nothing to install. A participant opens the invitation link, enters their name and lands on the board. Participants need no account and pay nothing.

How a session works, step by step

1. Choosing a facilitator

In the catalog, every facilitator has a profile: education, approach, working languages and specializations. There are 22 specializations in three groups: “Business & work”, “Family & lineage” and “Personal & wellbeing”. The catalog can be filtered by specialization. Profiles are translated into ten languages, so you can read them in yours.

2. Arranging the meeting

You send your request through the form on the facilitator's page. You agree on the format, time and price of the session directly with the facilitator. The platform takes no commission on sessions.

3. The invitation

The facilitator creates a session and sends you a link. The link is valid for seven days.

4. Participant roles

Besides the facilitator, a session has two roles:

• a representative moves and turns figures, and everyone sees the movements at once;
• an observer only watches.

The facilitator can change anyone's role during the session.

5. Working on the board

The facilitator places figures: people, lying figures, abstract shapes, arrows and animals, nine types in all. Each figure has a name, colour, size and facing direction. A time axis from past to future can be switched on across the table. The “View” mode shows the board through the eyes of the selected figure.

If a pause is needed, the facilitator can hide the board from participants for a while (“Hide”) or stop everyone from moving figures (“Lock”).

6. Ending and the report

Every figure movement is recorded. After the session you have a recording that can be replayed for review, and a report: the request, participants, figures, the movement log and the outcome. The report can be printed from the browser or exported as a PDF.

What people come with

Business and work: conflicts, team and hiring, launching projects, career, family business and inheritance. Family and lineage: relationships in a couple, children and parents, ancestral patterns. Personal: important decisions, fears, self-esteem, relocation, money, finding a direction.

Who reads the constellation

A live facilitator. The platform provides the tool: the board, the recording and the report. It does not interpret the constellation and does not suggest decisions.
